Spring Derby Cocktails

You are invited to a Kentucky Derby-inspired cocktail event, featuring choice cocktails and great company — fascinators and seersucker optional (but highly encouraged)!

Women in SALT turn wine into bourbon! On Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. EDT, we will gather virtually and learn what Nikki has declared is an essential life skill - how to make a mint julep. You will receive almost everything you need for your julep and for another drink, the Whiskey Lily. The Lily is the drink of the Kentucky Oaks, which is the longest continuously run stakes in the United States restricted to three-year-old fillies (fillies are female horses).

In addition to your Derby hat or fascinator, you will need:

  1. One (1) Lemon

  2. Fresh mint

  3. Ice

  4. Cocktail shaker (also known as a "whiskey tin")

Please register for the event and pay here. Your $75.00 (+ processing fees), as well as generous donations from Dean Dorton and Eversheds Sutherland, provide you with everything else for the gathering — right down to official Derby and Lily glasses!

Please be sure to order before April 11, 2021 to allow enough time for shipping!

So get your hats and fascinators ready! You can participate in the festivities with a hat of your own from Dee’s Hats (a local Louisville institution) or Amazon.

This is a virtual gathering you won't want to miss!

Check out this video on how the hats tradition came about!
